Umm...there is something growing in my tank?

So today I went to clean the water in my tank, and there were two things growing up at the top of my tank above the water. They were oval and tan. They were made out of lots of small bubbles. When I crunched one open, it was crusty on the outside, but had a gel-like consistency in the middle. I am wondering what it is, and if it is harmful to my fish in the tank.

My tank is 10 gallons, and i have 4 guppies, 2 snails, a frog and 2 plecostomus. ( i know it is crowded....)

  1. well the type of fish u have, I think there fish eggs...

  2. Sounds like snail eggs. If you don't want more snails, scrape them off. Since they are above the water, you apparently have mystery or apple snails.

  3. thats snail eggs just scrap the eggs off if u dont what them

to avoid that just keep the water level high

because they need like a inch or 2 above the water to lay eggs

u know the eggs can be in the water at first

and if u wanna breed them do it in a other tank because they breed like rabbits

  4. Could be snail eggs.  They are a jelly mass and they usually lay them above the water line.

  5. I had something similar that ended up being a thick algae. It was nowhere else but on the lid and tinted the water. It was easily wiped off once I found it.

  6. Definitely sounds like snail eggs, they won't harm your tank but will certainly harm them by squashing them LOL.  You haven't mentioned whether you have any apple snails in your tank.
