Umpire http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahendra-Singh-Dhoni-c73820 ‘walk away’ – Cricket News Update
The 59-year-old Daryl Harper recently concluded his International umpiring career because of Indian captain, MS Dhoni’s criticism over his umpiring decisions.  The former umpire is not happy with the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 for not taking any action against Dhoni’s undue condemnation.
During http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s tour to West Indies, the Indian team had certain reservations over Harper’s umpiring. He was alleged by Indian captain MS Dhoni for giving incorrect decisions, which in turn delayed India’s 2nd Test against the host team.
While expressing his views over the issue, Harper said that Dhoni is walking away with the matter and ICC has kept quiet, which is unjust with Harper. He further added that this is the rise of “selective management” in cricket where people are provided partial
justice.
Harper revealed that Dhoni had tried to threaten him during the 2nd Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760. He told “ESPNcricinfo” staff that Dhoni came up to him and said, "We've had problems with you before, Daryl".
The Australian umpire stated that he has been just and impartial in the past and never favoured any player. India and Dhoni were also unable to influence his decisions; hence they made an attempt to terrorize him.
The veteran umpire claimed that he has always been sincere to his profession and tried to give as accurate decisions as possible.
The mistreated umpire was backed by ICC’s General Manager, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Richardson-c85395 Dave, who said, “The reality of the situation is that Daryl's statistics show his correct decision percentage in Tests involving India is 96 per cent, which is considerably higher than
the international average for top-level umpires”.
Indian captain’s unfair accusation was the reason of Harper’s premature retirement from umpiring. Harper was heavily criticised by the Indian media and team, which was termed as unfair by Richardson, as match referee, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jeffrey-John-Crowe-c66798, did not charge Dhoni for
his actions.
The Indian team is currently touring http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, where they will be contending the hosts in the 1st Test match, starting from July 21, 2011, under the command of Dhoni.
Daryl Harper is upset that Dhoni walked away without being punished. The umpire had also warned some Indian players in the past over disciplinary or behavioural issues and deems it as a reason for Dhoni’s threatening attitude towards him.
The former umpire added, “I loved my role but I didn't want to see the focus switch to me when it should centre on the players and the contest”.
