Some time ago I uninstalled the free version of AVG8. I am attempting to install Kaspersky 2009 but when I attempt this I am informed Kaspersky cannot install because AVG8 is still on my computer. I have searched all the files on my computer but cannot find this rogue file. I am running Vista Home Premium, can anyone tell me how to remove this file?

  1. Would it help if you went into system restore?

  2. try this go to start search type avg if avg as hidden it's self this will tell you where to go

  3. Try downloading & reinstalling AVG 8 again, then uninstalling. It shouldn't cause any problems like this.

  4. The step above would be helpful. But, if the file has been uninstalled and is still giving you an issue, you may have to delete the entries from the registry.

Before going there, search for the entries in C:\Program Files on the computer.

To get there, click on Start > Computer > Local Disk C: > Program Files.

    Delete the directory required.

If that does not work, Try this: Click on Start > key in RUN > Enter > type "regedit" > click f2 > search for AVG and delete all the keys which are related to the software.

If you are not confident, you may want to download some third party program and try to uninstall the file. You may want to try: http://www.martau.com/tu_download.php

It is also recommended that you remove the software immediately after the rogue files are deleted.
