Im asking this on behalf of a friend who has a female un neutered female she wants to adopt a rescue male that has been neutered. How easy will it be for them to get along considering the male is and the female isn’t neutered. will the female get territorial? Or will the male. What the chances of a smooth transition?

  1. You'll wake up in the morning to rabbit tartare.

  2. I have had this combination on 3 occasions and on 2 of those occasions it was fine, but on the 3rd they fought no matter what I did.

This combination is theroetically the best mix but, honestly, it will depend on the tempremant of them both.

The new rabbit MUST be introduced to the existing in a neutral environment for a few minutes and gradually build up the meeting time over a couple of weeks. Your friend absolutely must not just put the new rabbit into the existing rabbits cage or it will cause the existing to fight to defend its territory.

Therefore, if your friend does not have a spare cage to keep the new one in initially then it almost definately wont work.

    Good luck

  3. Wait a minute...females can be "neutered"?  Didn't you see the educational film "Mammal Moms and Dads" in health class?

  4. yes any male and female rabbit will get on together as you will find the male wont exactly know that he has lost his bits and the female will more than likely flirt and if you dont have much time for them then this is great company for each of them

  5. i personally have had many rabbits. When the male has been neutered he is normally alot calmer and will not be as territorial, but the female already has her territory at the home as she has been there longer. It depends on what breed the two rabbits are and the personality of the rabbit. Having a lop rabbit as a female will be favourable as they are normally more dosile when female. Just make sure the male is not too excitable as this will annoy the female and cause an instant disliking. He has to be submissive. Take time to introduce them, keep them both in there cages and eventually push one cage towards the other so they can get used to the others smell. After a week if they same friendly let them out together in a neutral environment, somewhere the rabbits have never been before such as the car.

  6. they should be fine together
