i receive local channels from my rooftop antenna and also have dish network for the premium channels. i only have one cable that goes into my "extra tv" which is set to channel 3 when watching the satellite. now that i attached the dtv converter the local channels are on 3 and i can't figure out how to watch the satellite without detaching the converter. when i called customer service for the dtv converter, they could not help me. what should i do? it seems silly to have to disconnect the converter everytime i want to watch the satellite.

  1. Connect the cable from your antenna to the dtv converter.  Then connect that to the antenna input of your satellite box.  When you want to watch the local digital channels just shut off the satellite box.  The local channels should then appear normally on your tv.

  2. Check if your TV has a "video" input, usually composite (yellow plug) or s-video. If it does, you can connect to that input either the dish box or the converter.

If you only have one RF input, you can buy a simple 2-to-1 RF switch. Connect the outputs of the converter and the dish box to the two RF inputs and the one input to the TV. Then, you can switch between the two.
