Unable to install updates

My computers' configuration is as follows:
HP a6130
Intel (R) Core2 CPU
4400@2 ghz
1 GB RAM
Windows Vista

I am unable to install updates sucessfully.I dont why this problem has suddenly proped up. It was working fine, but suddenly .........
After restarting the computer, it always fails to install the updates for vista sccessfully..
