Spartak Moscow’s official website confirms that the former Valencia coach, Unai Emery, has taken the managerial charge at Luzhniki stadium. The 40-year-old manager has replaced Valery Karpin after signing a two-year contract with
the Russian outfit.
Emery is expected to hold his first training session at Moscow tomorrow, where he will tell the media about possible summer transfer targets after accessing the squad. The Spanish tactician arrived in Tarasovka, where he met with
the entire squad and representatives of the medical staff.
Media reports in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991 suggest that Emery will be working with three Spanish assistants at the Moscow-based club. It is also rumoured that Andrei Tikhonov will be transferred to administrative work after Emery’s arrival.
The former Real Sociedad man has joined the Spartachi after having a successful spell with the Spanish outfit, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863. Emery managed to win three bronze medals with the Spanish outfit.
At Spartak, Emery’s prime focus will be to guide the Russian giants back on track after a couple of below par Russian Premier League campaigns.
Emery has himself conceded that Spartak are expected to sign a few players during the upcoming summer transfer window. He went on to tell about the basic principles of the game that he intends to instill at Moscow.
“First and foremost, I want to thank Leonid Fedun and Valery Karpin for having bet on me. I have come here to quickly adapt and implement new plans. It is necessary to ensure that we play with dignity. I want to help this club
to reclaim the glory.”
“I've seen quite a few games last season. Spartak have good young players - such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dmitri-Kombarov-c11402. However, the Myaso still need two to four players, likely to be, central defender and midfield
players.” The former Lorca Deportiva manager was quoted as saying.
Emery has expressed his desire to match the level of CSKA Moscow and Zenit St. Petersburg.
