Unbelievable coincidence or evidence of human existence long before the accepted dates.?

Let's say for example you were just a normal lay person that has had zero education about the past or the study of fossils.

But, you accidentally make a discovery that you have extensively searched and failed to find anything even remotely similiar. Perhaps what you have learned makes you believe it could possibly provide evidence certain conclusions documented are incorrect.

What if you were 100% absolutely, positive of its existence and the evidence is so strong there is no possiblity of another explanation or a figment of your imagination.

What would you do if you were certain it is extremely signifigant and should be preserved and studied, yet when you tried to explain or describe it, the concept is not readily accepted and can be considered far-fetched or highly unlikely?

How do you find a person that is qualified to verify something that is the only one of its kind and will give the discovery every chance to prove its existence without prejudice?

  1. Contacting a university doesn't usually accomplish anything if you don't actually know anyone in the history/archaeology department.

What state do you live in? More importantly, what is you believe you have found? Something that proves the 'evidence of human existence long before the accepted dates' implies you have something that would be millions of years old, since the earliest homids date back that far. Homo sapiens, our species, dates to at least 500,000 years ago, and the earlist civilizations appear ca. 4000 BC, so there are a lot of perameters that include 'human existence.'

If you wish to discuss it further, I am a historian and thus might be able to give you some clearer information if I have a description. My archaeological skills are limited (particularly without seeing it first) but if you want more information, and you have something physical, you could email me or email an individual in an archaeology department near your location.

  2. Contact a University. You are not an expert, and what you THINK it may be, may not be what it is, though it may be a valuable find (or nothing at all).  That is for the experts to decide. They have the degrees, after all, and you have admitted that you have no expertise whatsoever.

  3. If you are living in the UK the problem we have is the class system, which believes that the ordinary citizen, especially of the 'working class' is incapable of doing anything intelligent.  Therefore, if this is how your situation is, I would proceed with extreme caution.

The most likely source of help is probably Time Team of Channel 4.  You may have noticed that the team is made up entirely of Professors [two anyway] who are themselves for and of the 'working class'.

Some years ago I heard of a GP in Wales who discovered a cheap and effective way of curing leg ulcers in his older female patients.  He made bandages from kelp [sea weed].  It worked so well it was a miraculous cure by all the standards.  He was banned from using it. He was an ordinary Welshman a member of the Welsh working class.

Back in the 17th century if you broke a leg it was usually amputated.  A family of Welsh farm workers discovered a method of knitting broken bones together.  Their recognition has taken nearly 300 years.  They were just worker's you see.  But they perfected a method of fixing broken bones in animals as well as people.  Changed the world.

  4. Try the natural history museum, they may have the staff and time to fully investigate your claim, but remember that there have been many charlatans over the century's and that every new discovery will be rigorously investigated.

  5. I think the main problem is that your are a "normal lay person that has had zero education about the past or the study of fossils," and you are "100% absolutely, positive of...the evidence."

There is a certain amount of education within most disciplines that goes beyond the simple facts involved. Believe me, as an archaeologist, I've seen a large number of normal lay people who believed they have answers to our biggest questions, or some new idea or discovery that would turn archaeology on its head. They almost never do, and it's not because they are stupid or crazy. It's just that they haven't done their research when they think they have.

I'm not saying you are one of these people. But I will be honest: you sound like one. If you want to test the veracity of whatever you've found, keep trying universities until one of them listens to you. This is apparently about anthropology, so keep talking to anthro or archaeology professors until one of them takes a look. If it's nothing, they'll know. If it's something, they'll know how to handle it so it gets researched properly.

  6. NUTTER

  7. Would be interesting to know how old you think this evidence is.

Think it would also be worth checking what 'accepted dates' are. I spent a couple of years learning about ancient civilisations (for want of a better word) and man has been around for a very long time indeed.

Best of luck to you, see if you can get to a natural history museum and ask but be prepared to hear different stories as history is quite a political and sometimes emotive topic!

  8. You haven't said how this evidence is manifest. If you have credible factual data then take it to the British Museum or  your local archeological society, they will be able to advise you in how best to proceed.

  9. haha.  Well I think you're gonna have to say a little more for us to answer the question. Like maybe what the evidence is (hint hint).  But, I'm gonna have to say that you're wrong according to everything i've learned and seen.  Nothing against you personally, but it's more likely that a complete stranger is lying to me, than that something as obsurd as life on other planets is true.

  10. Go to a museum or a university, preferably with pictures.  If they don't seem interested, see if you can get an explanation why they aren't.  It may seem to you, a layperson, that your find is incredible, but you might just be lacking the knowledge that would explain it.  For instance, creationists and pseudoscientists like to trumpet the discovery of a metal hammer that was encased in rock.  It looks really good, sure, but it is the case that, in specialized conditions, that can happen really fast.  That hammer was encrusted with calcium carbonate, which can happen in a matter of decades.

When you go, do have the pictures, and also try not to be too over the top.  These people have to deal with a lot of claims, most of which end up being debunked.  Ask them politely and listen to their answers.

  11. I would seek help long established places such as the National Geographic Society, or The Smithsonian Institution.

Also, be aware that there is always another explanation for anything.  You need physical proof of (whatever) to establish any conclusions.

Just because a man is found shot to death inside a locked room with a gun in his hand doesn't mean he committed suicide.

  12. You are obviously a preaching wind bag and I have no clue what your question is.
