Unbridled Humor and Aviate to take on a massive field in the Noble Damsel at Belmont Park
The 4-year-old filly, Aviate, will look to take down her opposite number, Unbridled Humor, in the Grade 3 $100,000 Noble Damsel at Belmont Park, as both of them head the field of 11 fillies on 18 September, 2011.
The Noble Damsel will be run over a distance of 1 mile on grass, and draw a field of seven fillies and mares, with four main-track-only entrants.
Trained by Graham Motion for Live Oak Plantation, Unbridled Humor has had only one start in the year 2011, and that too in the Grade 1 Diana Handicap at Saratoga, where the 4-year-old filly rolled in seventh on grass over 1 1/8 miles.
Although the daughter of Distorted Humor was 3 of 3 before the Diana Handicap, she broke her maiden on 1 mile and won a stakes race over the same distance as well.
Memories of Silver Stakes at Aqueduct racecourse on 14 November, 2010, was a moment of glory for Unbridled Humor as she completed a perfect start there, winning 3 of 3 in as many starts.
On the other hand, the Dansili filly, Aviate, has had 5 starts this season, and she finished on the money once out of these 5 starts, winning a single race over a distance of 1 mile this year.
The Grade 2 Distaff Turf Mile at Churchill Downs on 7 May, 2011, was Aviate’s second start of the season, and the filly was coming off a third place finish in the Grade 3 Honey Fox at Gulfstream Park, also run over a mile.
Aviate showed her class in the Distaff Turf Mile, and defeated her closest rivals, Aruna and Fantasia, to win the grade 2 race in 1 minute and 36.67 seconds.
However, after a consistent and promising start to the season, the William Mott trained filly lost her way in the next three races, where she took on the grade 1 and 2 level.
Clearly, Aviate was outdone by other talented fillies as she finished 5th twice and once 6th.
However, things might change for both, Unbridled Humor and Aviate, when they take on each other in the Noble Damsel.
