Uncertainty looms large around Pittsburgh Steelers LB James Harrison's return – NFL News
Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison’s status for the next game is still uncertain as the player is yet to report return to full recovery and fitness from a knee surgery he had last month.
Until filing of this report, the team had not provided update on the daring linebacker’s chances for the weekend’s game. It now all depends on the player’s ability to return to practice this Friday which, if happens, will be his first since the start of
the season.
The player has remained on-and-off the radar monitoring and tracking his recovery and in spite of his personal boasts his comeback is very much awaited and yet to happen.
James himself is as confident about this week’s chances for comeback as he had been through all past three weeks but independently he is as much doubtful as ever before.
An important issue with regard to the LB’s recovery from the surgery which is described as mild one is that information around it is little and one-sided, mostly from the player’s end, while the team provides updates normally a day before the game or just
before its start.
The Steelers are nevertheless eager to see him back in the side given he is crucial to their defensive strategy. His absence is felt even more strongly given the team is also without star safety Troy Polamalu who suffered a calf injury in the very first
game of the season.
While Troy has missed the last two games, James is yet to play one this season and if he is able to make it to the squad this week his anxious wait will be over.
His side has so far been struggling in the American Football Conference (AFC) North division. They have won one and lost two games to stay third on the points table.
The division is led by the Baltimore Ravens with three wins (3-1) while the Cincinnati Bengals are behind them with 2-1 record. A win this week will certainly help the Steelers consolidate their position on the table but if the Bengals win their game too
they will still be behind the two teams.
