Uncertainty looms over the 2012 Pakistan-India cricket series – Cricket News Update
Uncertainty continues to loom over India- Pakistan bilateral series, scheduled for 2012 season as the Pakistan Cricket Board is still awaiting a reply from their counterparts in the Indian cricket board, regarding clearance from the Indian government.
A top PCB official told the media reporters that they have not yet received a response from Board of Control for Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 regarding the next year’s bilateral series. BCCI had earlier said that they can confirm the series only after receiving
a security clearance from the Indian government for the high profile series.
"From our side, we have obtained the government approval to play the series but the Indian board has told us that they will get back to us with details of the series after getting clearance from their government," said a top PCB official while talking
to a leading daily.
"As far as we are concerned, the tour is on and we are just waiting for the Indians to give the final clearance as we want to discuss some other options with them for the series," he added further.
Indi and Pakistan have never been in good relations owing to their geographical history but the situation has worsened since the 2008 http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 terror attacks. The arch rivals have not played each other in a bilateral series since then, despite the fact
that Pakistan have been eager to resume the cricketing relations.
The Future Tour Programme (FTP) of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 suggests Pakistan would visit India in March-April next year to play a three-match Test series and five One Day Internationals. However, it seems that the BCCI is once again in no mood to restore the bilateral
cricket ties.
The PCB officials are scheduled to meet the BCCI working committee later this week and the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket board officials said that they will discuss the issue of resuming the Indo-Pak cricket series.
The Men in Green last toured India in 2007 under Shoaib Malik’s captaincy and since then PCB and the Pakistan government have been approaching their Indian counterparts to restore the cricketing relations.
