Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Multiplayer beta supports 3D; All the details
After wowing audiences at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3 for those of you who have raised eyebrows and a blank expression, one of Sony’s, and in fact the entire gaming world’s, most successful franchises will launch its multiplayer beta
today, on the 28th of June.
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is not due for release for another couple of months, but like with the previous title, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, the game’s developer, Naughty Dog, have opted to hold a multi-player beta to iron out any issues and test the
mode as well.
The multiplayer Beta is open to anyone who has managed to get their hands on the code, as well as to PlayStation Plus subscribers and players who managed to bag themselves a  copy of Sucker Punch’s comic book themed superhero game, InFamous 2.
The Open Beta, which as the name suggests will be open to everyone regardless of a code, will launch on the 4th July, giving the code holders a full week to rank up.
Naughty Dog also released a schedule as to what modes players will be able to play over the course of the beta.
Online multiplayer carnage will kick off with Team Deathmatch, both with two and with three teams, as well as Co-op Arena and Plunder modes. These will only be available on the intriguingly dynamic Airstrip map and the burning Chateau map. Players will have
access to these modes from the 28th of June to the 4th of July.
The Closed Beta will then become public and there will be a change in modes, though the maps will remain the same. Players will be able to take part in the standard Team Deathmatch, though access to the Three Team Deathmatch will not be available. Free for
All, Co-op Hunter and Team Objective will replace Plunder and Co-op Arena from the closed beta as well.
That will last up till the 8th of July and on the 9th players will get a taste of the new Yemen map as well as the Co-op Adventure mode. Open Beta players will also get be able to try the Three Team Deathmatch for themselves, with the
standard Team Deathmatch still available as an option.
The Beta will end completely on the 13th of July after which gamers will have to wait for the game’s official release on the 1st of November, later this year.
The Beta comes packed with plenty of features, as the entire time it can be played in full stereoscopic 3D. It can also be linked to player’s Facebook account and updates will be provided in the news section. Though players will have to had linked their
PlayStation Network accounts with their respective Facebook ones first.
The beta will take up an estimated 1.7 GB of space on the PlayStation 3’s Hard Disk Drive and participants will be encouraged to report any bugs, which they may encounter, to the game’s developer.
The Beta will last just over two weeks, or nine days, depending on the whether or not players have the codes, as it scheduled to close on the 13th of July. Which makes reading this article a bit of a waste, seeing how the reader could so easily
be playing the Beta at this point in time. Yes, that last sentence was for you.
