Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Multiplayer news, European Demo and PlayStation Pass
The game itself may be releasing in all its cinematic glory on the November 1, but that has not stopped Naughty Dog and Sony Computer Entertainment from making a host of announcements about Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception over the past few days. All of it,
however, has something or the other to do with the game’s multiplayer element, which of course gamers got a taste of in the widely successful Beta.
Starting things off with the bad news, although to be fair the term bad or good here is debateable, it seems that Uncharted 3 will be following the footsteps of Resistance 3 and implementing the PlayStation Pass for online play.
For those readers who are unfamiliar with the PlayStation Pass and how it works, the Pass is a code which comes with the game itself and can only be used once. The code will allow gamer to use the multiplayer features on a specific PlayStation Network account
and does not carry any extra cost.
However, gamers who buy a pre-owned copy of the game will be getting the short end of the superficial stick, as they will have to pay a little extra in order to receive a Pass for themselves and access online features.
While the debate between the gaming community and publishers behind the games is still ongoing, and with publishers holding strong on their stance, one can expect a number of games to come with a Pass in one form or the other in the future.
Meanwhile, gamers and Uncharted fans in Europe have something to cheer about as the full on multiplayer version of the game is set to hit PlayStation Plus on October 5. The offer will only be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers for the time being.
The story broke after a message from the European PlayStation Blog issued the following statement, “This is a great way to get a head start on levelling up you Uncharted 3 multiplayer profile – Naughty Dog have made sure that key aspects of your progress
during the competitive multiplayer experience, will carry over into the final retail copy of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.”
The statement ended by stating, “We’ll have more details on how that works very, very soon.”
The Beta was played by over a million gamers and if the figures can repeat themselves when the full copy of the game comes out, it will bode very well for the game, especially given the fact that it is a single platform exclusive, though one can expect the
game to sell much, much more.
