Question:

Uncircumcised 6 year old not retracting. Is this normal? Please only answer if you know!?

My 6 year old son is uncircumcised, and in my reading when he was younger I thought his skin would retract on it's own between 3-5 years. It never has yet, and when I tried to get him to pull it back he said it hurt and so I just left it alone, and haven't tried since. He does play with himself a lot, but he doesn't understand when I ask him if it's pulling back, and he's getting too old for me to check it out myself. At 6, is this something I should be concerned with? We don't have a doctor right now (it's going to be a couple months before we have medical insurance) or else I would just ask at his check-up.

Anybody with actual experience with this, or at least realistic knowledge? I am a concerned mom, don't want him to have sexual problems later, and REALLY don't want to make him get circumcised NOW.

  1. Yes, it is normal.  Thats the whole thing about being uncircumsized - That the f******n will fall over the tip of his p***s until (in 10 years) he is aroused.  Then when it gets erect, the f******n pulls back.  If it is forced back, it will be painful, and that doesnt change as he gets older.  After the p***s relaxes again, once again, its got a little skin hood.

(sorry to make you think these things about your itty bitty son, though...)

    Thats a f******n for you.

Didn't you ever date an uncircumsized guy?  Its just the way those things work :)

  2. It's not important that he be able to retract his f******n until after puberty.  For now, he probably has more f******n than p***s.  That will reverse itself when everything starts getting bigger.

  3. do you have to come to this forum to ask this.you are to consult a doctor and allow him to examine the child.get his advise,pl.

  4. I wouldn't worry to much, in some boys it doesn't happen until they are early teens. If he's keeping it clean and not having infections or other problems there is NO reason to circumcise.

normally i don't suggest reading cirp.org because some of the thigns they say seem way over board to me, but the link I included I do like, and might help to reassure you some.
