Uncle Mo along with his stable mates arrived at Churchill Downs on the back of an easy breeze at Belmont Park
Mike Repole’s 3-year-old colt Uncle Mo is on his way to participate in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Classic at Churchill Downs on 5 November, 2011. The son of Indian Charlie along with his stable mate Stay Thirsty arrived at Churchill Downs 24 October, 2011.
Uncle Mo stayed on schedule with his latest breeze over the training track at Belmont Park, as day before arriving at Churchill Downs on 23 October.
Stable Mates Uncle Mo and Stay Thirsty turned in their penultimate breeze for the Classic, as Uncle Mo went an easy six furlongs at Belmont Park with a relaxed pace, covering the distance in 1 minute and 13.22 seconds.
Todd Pletcher than later sent Stay Thirsty, who is also going for the Breeders’ Cup Classic, turned in five furlongs in 1 minute and 01.1 seconds.
Both runners for Mike Repole and Todd Pletcher, arrived at Churchill Downs on 24 October along with the rest of the Breeders’ Cup contingent trained by Todd Pletcher including Stopshoppingmaria and Finale.
Stopshoppingmaria and Finale also worked on 23 October, as Stopshoppingmaria is pointed to the Grade 1 Grey Goose Juvenile Fillies and in addition she is also being considered for the Juvenile Sprint.
The filly went five furlongs in 1 minute and 1.41 seconds and on the other hand Finale is looking to match stride with his opponents in the Grade 1 Juvenile Turf, who went on to work four furlongs in 48.66 seconds.
Jockey John Velazquez who aboard Uncle Mo when he turned in his work at Belmont Park and the colt came back to the work tab after his impressive 58.64 second five furlong bullet move.
The son of Indian Charlie, out of Playa Maya by Arch, Uncle Mo was broke off at 6 ½ furlong mark and the aim was to get him off in a relaxed fashion, unlike last week when he had another horse as a target, but this time around Uncle Mo has a nice open track
to go at his own pace.
It was a good rhythmic breeze for Uncle Mo ahead of the Classic, Todd Pletcher was pleased with the work and hopefully that’s how he wants him before the big race.
