Question:

Uncomfortable Dreams of my Teeth?

Hi everyone,

I had 2 quite disturbing dreams about my teeth.

My first dream was about feeling one tooth loose and pulling it out myself and when I looked at it, it was long perfect at the top and middle but was a bit decayed at the root.

It felt quite scarey because it came out so easily, no blood and no pain. Just twisted and pulled!

My second dream last night was about me going to the dentist telling him to sedate me and sort out my teeth i.e fillings and cleaning. (I have a dentist phobia) When I looked in the mirror, my font teeth were broken, the roots were still there but had chucks out. Then I looked again and it had been fixed my the dentist but I could see the lines of where he had fixed it and the colour was not exactly the same.

Does these mean anything or am I just reading into it too much??

All help greatly appreciated!

Thanks

  1. Not knowing you, or further details I would have to say that your dreams reflect a problem with your self-esteem.

It doesn't have to be looks related, and in this case I'm guessing it is not.

Do you know a secret or involved with a secret - and at the "top" everything looks smooth and perfect, but deep inside things are falling apart?  This could be anything, hiding finances, gambling problems, an affair that is well hidden - but eventually this secret will come up and be exposed.

If that's the case, I would come clean or encourage the person who told you the secret to come clean because someone is probing.  (the dentist)

    Best of luck.

If this is not the correct answer, I've attached a dream article with links to a dream dictionary in the source.

  2. Look at fair Silverwing's list of meanings. There is something in all of them that applies to your tooth dream. But as it is taboo in our society to speak about things sexual, she has kindly left out that part of your tooth dream. So it is my duty to fill you in about that.

Think of this: when we smile we show our teeth. Why do we smile at someone? Because we possibly like them. What is implied in liking someone? Emotional connection the root of which is sexual.

If you can't accept this then remember that teeth are used for love bites. Why do we bite a lover? Because he or she is a dish; and why do we say "I love you so much I could eat you?"

You see eating is imbibing someone in order to become ONE with that someone. s*x too is a union which clearly spells becoming one. Even the communion spells that out.

Now there is something in your dream which tells me that it is mainly about s*x. This is the manipulation of a loose tooth. I have discovered that when we dream of handling something, when we use our hands for one activity or another, it means manipulating our genitals. This assertion is underpinned by the dream's narrative. In other words I have also found that the way a dream is told is revelatory, is interpretative. You said you were ‘pulling it out’. The operative word is 'pulling' and in the sexual context it is quite plain what that means.

There is a further observation I have made in this context. Looking in the mirror is a self directed action and egocentric action. So is masturbation.

You corroborate all this with your second dream. All dreams of on night are intimately connected like the acts and scenes of a stage drama. In that second dream you are asking the dentist to sedate you. What is sedation? It is changing of your state of mind so as not to feel discomfort or pain. Sexual pressure is uncomfortable and demands release. This is obtained by breaking up in an o****m. Note the narrative vocabulary in your dream: "The front teeth were broken". When you dream of breaking something, anything, teeth, glass, pottery etc. it is a sure sign that an o****m WILL take place on the dream day.

Please note this for future references. When you have observed this personally you will begin to realise that it is not you that decides what sexual activity to undertake and when, but your dream, or more accurately the power behind the dream which science loves to call Nature.

This being so it also absolves you from guilt. That you felt guilty is shown in the lines that were still visible in your teeth and the discolouration of your teeth despite the dentist's best efforts to mend your broken teeth. Another sign of guilt, and a strong one at that, is the fact that you asked your dentist to sedate you. Sedation in that context means to be put in a state where you are oblivious to the reality of things.

  3. I used to (and still do occasionally) have recurring dreams with this same theme - losing teeth.  I have always been very protective of my teeth and have something of a fear of losing/damaging them.  Perhaps this is the case with you as well, and the dreams are just a subconscious manifestation of this fear.

  4. definitley just thinking about it too much :D, i had a bit of time with creepy teeth dreams when i found out i had to get my wisdom teeth out! ahhh! freaky dreams!

i never wanna go toothless ever, i will be forever faithful to my teeth till i die! haha

just had my wisdom's out 2 weeks ago, and i'm good :D

  5. you know, you are not the only one who has uncomfortable dreams about their teeth. i do, too!!! well, as a matter of fact, most people dream about teeth, especially their own but they fail to admit it. ( they probably feel uncomfortable. ) my dream is more like the first dream of yours. only, it is worse... it is repetitive!!! and that makes me feel more uncomfortable. well, i dream that my bottom right canine tooth has fallen out. ( i dont know how. ) with my tongue, i feel my bare gums with no tooth there... it is a very horrible feeling. i begin to get scared. my heart beats faster... then, in my dream, i begin to think " how will i be able to face people " ? " how will i be able to smile without them knowing that my tooth is missing ?  " " how will i look is i smile - ugly " those thoughts scare me to death. many times, i have woken up, sat on my bed in the middle of the night and put my hand in my mouth to feel if my right canine tooth is there or not. i go back to bed with a sigh of relief!!! my tooth is still there. i often get these dreams when my mind is troubled and disturbed. according to dream interpretation, dreaming about one's teeth depicts insecurity and now wanting to lose something or someone who is very close to you and who means alot to you. it also shows indecisiveness. this interpretation aptly depicts what i feel when i dream about my teeth... but all said and done, face life as it comes... be strong and you will be able to pass all hurdles in life!!! hope you never have uncomfortable dreams about your teeth ever again. goodbye bad teeth dreams!!! all the best!!! take care...

  6. I used to be very interested in interpreting my dreams, especially those about my teeth, because they were the most common of my nightmares. All of my research taught me that dreams about your teeth means you are suffering from stress.

  7. --Teeth--

To dream that you have rotten or decaying teeth, forewarns that your health and/or business is in jeopardy. You may have uttered some false or foul words and those words are coming back to haunt you.

    --Dentist--

To dream that you are at the dentist, signifies periodic doubt over the sincerity and honor of some person. You may have some anxiety or fear of pain, but in the long run it will be for your own good.

  8. Unless you are worried about your teeth for some reason, this is definitely a symbolic dream.

To dream of losing teeth may express a lack of confidence in some situation where you want to appear confident or in control in front of others.  You fear your weaknesses will show.

It can also mean "losing face" as traditionally spoken of in Asian tradition.  This would mean you fear or are experiencing embarrassment or damage to your reputation.

To pull a tooth yourself may indicate you have identified a certain weakness or problem you are trying to improve yourself.  But, since it came out so easily, it seems you discovered you are weaker in that specific area than you had believed, and it frightens you.

Losing teeth can also indicate you feel you lack "bite", power or influence in some area where you need to be able to take authority or lead.  Something is undermining your ability to lead or take charge as needed.  This could be your own lack of confidence, or you may feel undermined in some way.  If this is the case, the person you feel is undermining you would most likely be in the dream, treating you with disrespect or disdain.

Going to the dentist and asking him to "sort out" your teeth may indicate you are consulting someone (perhaps a professional) for advice or help in improving your communication or leadership skills or your image in some way.  Even with advice, you are still not satisfied with the results.

    Pray for wisdom.

    God bless you!
