Uncomfortable contact lenses Help!!!!?

I have wore contacts since I was like 13 years old ( I am now 22) and I swear I cannot find a comfortable (soft) contact lenses. I get dry eyes and they are really sensitive to water so like I cant go swimming with them in. For the last three years or so I've been complaining to my eye doctors about it and I still can't find the perfect ones. Plus I have a slight stigmatism in my right eye. Its all really frustrating not having the right lenses. I do have to add that my vision is really bad like -6.50/-7 so sometimes they can't get certain contacts for me, or at least that is what I was told. I am planning on getting laser eye surgery eventually but I can't afford it right now, plus I have to make sure my vision doesn't change. Can anyone suggest a brand or something you have tried that you loved or works well??? I have Hydrogenics 60 and they are two week contacts and I have to go in for a new yearly prescription /exam in a month. Please I can't take it anymore!

  1. i had very "dry eyes" and a doctor recommended me for FOCUS NIGHT&DAY and since i am wearing it i have no problem, but its more  expensive....

  2. Proclear are great for people with dry eyes, Frequency 55 aspheric are great for correcting a little bit of astigmatism without being a toric lens, dailies are awesome for people with dry eye issues. Also the type of solution you use can affect how dry your contacts get through out the day. Clear Care (solution) is great for people suffering from dry eyes, but DON'T BUY IT YET, it is NOT your typical no rub solution. Talk to your doctor about it when you go in, they need to teach you how to use Clear Care so you don't give yourself a nasty chemical burn on your cornea (used properly, it is fantastic). If you naturally have dry eyes, there is a medication that can help your eyes produce more tears, it's call Restasis, your doctor may prescribe that.

When you get your eyes checked, your doctor will give you a trial pair of contacts to try for a couple weeks before you order the boxes, if the trial pair is not comfortable, call your doctor and let them know exactly what is bothering you. They should switch brands and give you another trial pair of something different, don't give up! There are so many options out there and you have a common problem.

  3. I second the dry eye medication recommendation!  (That was a mouthful, lol.)

I wear soft lenses, have astigmatism and crappy vision, and also have dry eyes according to my dr...nothing works quite well but I have used eye drops.  I'm thinking about just trying the medication because the problem lies with my ability to produce tears, not the contacts.
