Question:

Uncomfortable wearing makeup...?

Well I'm 16 years old and I never wear any makeup unless I'm going to a party or something. Well my parents have no problem with me wearing it or anything and I have a whole stash of makeup but for some reason I don't really feel comfortable wearing it. I want to wear it but I think it'll be kind of weird because I never wore it before and now all of a sudden I start wearing it. I only really want to wear eyeliner but whenever I put it on well it doesn't really compliment my face it just makes my face look kind of... dirty, if that makes any sense at all. So does anyone have any advice on how I can wear it so that it will make me look good but it won't be to drastic of a change?

  1. Some girls really have natural beauty and look terrific without make-up!  If you want to ease yourself into it I would suggest buying very neutral colors of eyeliner, shadows, and mascara.  Go for browns, dark browns rather than black on the liner and mascara and for the shadow pick some tans, peaches, creams.  Once you get used to it--and you think everyone else is used to you in it-- then you can move on to darker and bolder colors.  :)

  2. I would say only wear what you're comfortable with.  There are a lot of people out there who probably shouldn't be wearing eyeliner, but do!  I don't think it would be weird to start wearing makeup all of a sudden, but if you are still a little worried, start out gradually.  Since you already wear eyeliner sometimes, move up to mascara as well.  Then when you feel more comfortable, a neutral color eyeshadow.  I worked up gradually too; I didn't always wear foundation, blush, and all.  Once again though, it's all about what you feel comfortable with!  Good luck ;)

  3. try putting a little bit of blush right on your cheekbones. (it compliments all face shapes.

A little bit of lip gloss also helps is girls feel pretty.

Instead of using eyeliner, try mascara. It is alot less drastic but it is really pretty.

  4. There's no law that says you have to wear make-up.

But from what you've said, it sounds like all you really want to do is enhance your natural look.  Therefore, I'd suggest all you really need is some mascara (to emphasise your eyes and give you long, dark lashes), a light or natural coloured lip gloss, and maybe just a light dusting of gold eyeshadow on your eyelids to really make your eyes pop.

You don't have to go the whole foundation, powder, blush routine, if you feel it makes you look like a doll.

I suggest you look at some of the photos in magazines.  Pick out the looks that you think suit you, and practice at home.  You'll eventually discover a look that is just right for you.

Just remember, you're trying to enhance you beauty - not hide it behind layers of make-up.

  5. if ur not comfortable with it then dont wear it. you prolly dont need it anyway. all i wear is lip gloss, eyeliner, shadow, and mascara.

  6. Try applying an eye primer(like Urban Decay) first and a liquid eyeliner (MAC fluid line is great).  It takes some practice but it looks so much more clean and put together than pencil.  Add a light sweep of mascara and some lip gloss and you're done!

  7. I'm a lot older than you and I still don't like using certain types of makeup I understand the whole looking dirty thing,so what I do is a little tinted moisturizer and some shadow and I use a eye shadow duo that way I have a base shade then I use the darker shade wet for liner, mascara, and a sheer lip color It still looks like me completely,I have just enhanced what I have,I would stick with taupe's and browns on the eyes and depending on what you prefer either nude or pink lip color not a high shine gloss, I hope I helped you in some way

  8. You go Gurl!

Have some of your girlfriends over and have a makeover party!  They are alot of fun!  Enjoy!

  9. i know exactly what u mean. If i were u i would just wear a good mascara tho, becuase it usually darkens the lashes making the eyes stand out more, just like eyeliner would, but without looking drastic. i like eyeliner too, but i feel that mascara gives me a more natural look for my age. im 16 too, so im not a huge makeup wearer just because its not much my taste unless of course theres a party or some special occasion
