Uncomfortable with.....?

Don't get me wrong but I am very close with my cousins and stuff but sometimes I feel uncomfortable with them. Like when I start wearing make-up, how will they react? They always saw me as a tom-boyish but never knew the real, real, me. They found out who I like one time and they kept making fun of me for liking him and when I say "teasing me" I mean dead beat teasing, it made me cry and one time one of them said, "Are you roach-smeller? because my place used to have roaches and that made me almost cry.

Since we're Asians, we don't talk about personal stuff like black/white (no offense I'm not racist) talk about.

please help me.

I've dated several asians and been the "Ghost" at the dinner table. So here is my opinion.

If your cousins have always treated you as "one of the guys", it's probably unsettling that you're now becoming "one of the ladies".

I would venture that they're worried that they won't be able to relate or be friends like the old days. So they're teasing you and picking on you...which is what men do when the pecking order comes into question.

What they fail to understand is that you're not "one of the guys" and are strictly off limits to being picked on. I hate to say it, but the quickest solution is to get a boyfriend.

Watch how these cousins shut up when you've got some fella on your arm. It'll communicate to them that "Yes, she is a lady. Now we've got to be nice."

Of course, you could always go the other direction and beat them up. I've found that it rarely works in Asian families though. The family is very tied up in having strong sons. When a female family member beats one up, it tends to make her unpopular.

So I advise...flaunt your feminity. Find some girlfriends...do girlie stuff...get a boyfriend (a good one)...wear dresses and use make up. You've got to let these relatives know that you're not another male cousin acting like a girl. YOU ARE A GIRL!

Now go get em girl!!!
