Undefeated Houston Texans target win versus Green Bay Packers – NFL Preview
The first-time Super Bowl contenders and undefeated Houston Texans will host the Green Bay Packers – the Super Bowl champions of 2010 – this Sunday (Oct. 14) targeting a win against the visitors.
It has been an impressive show put up by the entire Texans squad and thanks to the superb teamwork the hosts are without a defeat in the American Football Conference (AFC) South division this year, so far.
Although the Packers are not an easy side to beat, given the hosts have toppled the Denver Broncos and New York Jets, overpowering this visitor should not be impossible for them.
Again, the formula of maintaining possession of the ball for most part of the game has worked wondrously well for the team, and their scheme of running faster offensive to counter oppositions has proved to a far better defensive strategy.
From offence leader quarterback Matt Schaub, running back Arian Foster to wide receiver Andre Johnson, all have run havoc in the oppositions lines, giving little room and opportunities to their offence to respond with an equal pace and power.
Coach Gary Kubiak is upbeat about his team’s chances of a victory this weekend, although he has regretted ousting of linebacker Brian Cushing with a knee injury. The player will miss the rest of the season and coach fears it might affect them on the defence
line.
Nevertheless, he has again ruled out if his team can fall victim to a complacency phase, given they have achieved hundred percent record in the league first time. He said the Texans are a bunch of matured guys, who have experience and skills to deal with
all situations.
Although the Packers have been rather inconsistent lately, the Texans must be aware of their capability of defeating any side in the league. Gary will have to back his side to work hard until very last minute of the game to ensure victory.
A number of games have been decided in the last couple of minutes this season and there is no room for the Texans to feel they have done the job and relax, even if they have a wide margin lead.
Overall, the game is going to be very competitive, as both sides are studded with star performers, who will go against each other aggressively. The Texans with a number of wins at their back will certainly come on the field with a higher level of confidence,
but it can also work for them negatively, especially if they are overconfident. A win by the Texans should not be a surprise.
