Undefeated Mexican-American boxer Brandon Rios knocks out Urbano Antillon – Boxing news
The undefeated Mexican-American professional boxer Brandon Rios has successfully defeated the former WBO, NABO and NABF Super Featherweight Champion Urbano Antillon in their 12-round bout on Saturday.
Antillon received the second consecutive loss to his professional career.
Brandon ‘Bam Bam’ Rios won a 3rd round technical knockout decision against Urbano Antillon at the Home Depot Centre in Carson, California.
The time was 2:39 of the third round when the referee David Mendoza stepped in to halt the fight in favour of Rios. Kermit Bayless, David Denkin and Steve English were performing their duties as the official judges of the competitive bout.
Rios made the second successful defence of his World Boxing Association’s world lightweight title against 28-year-old Orthodox stance Antillon.
Antillon went down to the floor for couple of times in round three.
The current WBA World Lightweight Champion Rios made the first successful defence of his WBA world lightweight title winning a 10-round technical knockout decision against Miguel Acosta on February 26, 2011 at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Rios has been an outstanding performer since he has turned professional winning 3rd round technical knockout decision against Raul Montes in 2004. It was his number 10th consecutive victory against the world recognised boxers.
Rios has fought 29 of his total fights of which he has won 28 competitive bouts with one draw.
Antillon faced the third professional loss of his career. In his second last fight, Antillon lost a 12-round unanimous points’ decision fighting against Humberto Soto at the Honda Centre in Anaheim, California.
In his early days, Antillon performed his level best defeating top boxers of the world. Antillon turned professional after winning a four-round unanimous points’ decision against Michelangelo Lynks in 2000.
After winning 26 of his total fights, Antillon faced the first ever loss of his career losing a technical knockout decision against Miguel Acosta in 2009.
