Under 19 Six-Nations 2012: Mathias Christiansen and David Daugaard secure Men’s Doubles title
Denmark’s talented players Mathias Christiansen and David Daugaard lived up to expectations as they secured Men’s Doubles title at the Under 19 Six-Nations 2012 in Germany, on Monday, April 9.
In the final battle, Mathias and David tamed their compatriots Frederik Colberg and Mathias Mundbjerg without facing any considerable trouble.
The second seeded Mathias and David played on a different level as they did not take much time against their lower ranked country-mates and bagged the contest in straight games.
On the other hand, Fredrik and Mathias could not overpower their higher ranked team-mates in the final encounter and bowed down to them without winning any set.
Mathias and David started their aggressive run from the starting points of opening set and did not take much time in setting up a superb lead.
In the meanwhile, the lower ranked Fredrick and Mathias were quite helpless against the killing play of their opponents and remained far behind on the score board until the mid-game break.
After the interval, Mathias and David did not slow down their progress at any stage as they took no time in ending the opening game with a completely one-sided margin of 21-13.
In the second game, Fredrick and Mathias played elevated badminton this time as they remained positive and quicker in taking the shots of their higher ranked challengers.
In the meanwhile, Mathias and David could not take lead in the opening part of second set because their opponents were playing better game.
Until the one-minute interval, Mathias and David were slightly ahead of their compatriots on the board.
After the one-minute break, both sides continued their attacking play in the match and they progressed at the same speed.
The score reached at the concluding phase and both sides remained unable to dominate the pace of rallies.
They were at 20-20 when Mathias and David controlled the pace by working well at net and managed to grab two consecutive points and won the second game with a tight score of 22-20.
Mathias and David bagged Men’s Doubles title after beating their team-mates in the title match with a 21-13 and 22-20 margin on the score board.
