Under 21 - bringing alcohol into the USA?

i'm 20, from Australia, and visiting a friend in the USA. I'm wanting to take over a bottle of alcohol in my checked luggage as a gift - is this legal?

  1. No you cannot legally bring it. The minimum age limit is 21 to bring alcohol into the US. Even then, it has to be legal in the state where you arrive. Absinthe is illegal in the US, so you could not bring that back no matter what your age or where you arrive. The states have individual liquor laws which may include additional restrictions.

  5. check with the airline to make sure, but I think it is.  I wanted to bring a bottle back w/me from Scotland and was told NO.
