Under-fire Harbhajan lashes out at Indian media – Cricket News Update
Struggling Indian off-spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harbhajan-Singh-c61453 on Friday lashed out at the country’s media, saying the Indian media is nothing but a joke.
"Indian media makes the news out of nothing. Three days of county game gone in rain and they playing 'Bhajji gone wicketless'. Well done media," Harbhajan, who is also known as Bhajji back home, wrote on Twitter.
"Indian media is nothing but a joke. Worst part is the people believe what they write. Come on guys grow up. Stop putting one guy down. Don't do this c**p stories. Stay away media," he added further.
Harbhajan’s comments have come in the wake of a TV report, which noted that the poor offie went wicketless in a recent county match in England.
"Harbhajan's barren spell for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Essex-c783 continues," read a headline by The Times of India on Friday, July 20.
The turbanator, who was recently overlooked for the limited overs squad to tour Sri Lanka, is currently in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, playing for Essex County Cricket Club, in an attempt to regain his lost form. Despite working hard in nets, the Indian once again went wicketless
in a rain-interrupted County Championship game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gloucestershire-c785 last week.
Harbhajan, who played for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hampshire-c789, underway at Chelmsford since Thursday. The off-spinner bowled 28 overs on the opening day but failed to claim even a single
wicket, after conceding 73 runs.
The 32-year-old Jalandhar born right arm off-spinner, who has 406 Test wickets and 259 ODI wickets in his name, has not played an international match for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 over the past 12 months. His last appearance for the men in blue came in July last year, during
India’s winless tour of England.
However, a ray of hope for the turbanator is that he has been named in India’s 30-man preliminary squad for September’s World T20 Championship, to be held in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758. However, it remains to be seen whether the selectors keep faith in him when the squad
is trimmed to final 15 by the 18th of next month.
