Under fire http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Cole-c18694 remains positive – Premier League news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 and Liverpool player Joe Cole has claimed that despite not featuring in the first team on regular basis, he is happy to be part of the Reds squad and is willing to work hard in order to cement his place in the playing eleven consistently.
Cole joined the Reds in the summer of 2010 on a free transfer from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. His tenure with the Blues was highly successful as he won three Premier league titles and two FA Cups with the London club but so far has failed to make an impact with the Merseysiders.
Many football experts feel that Cole has lost his magic and he has been criticised for his lack of work ethic. In the UEFA Europa League match against Sparta Prague played on 24 February, 2011, Cole’s performance was considered poor by all standards. He
was hesitant in 50-50 tackles, had poor stamina and neglected his defensive duties.
In the ongoing 2010-11 season, Cole has struggled with numerous injury problems as well. The midfielder has just made 14 appearances for the Reds and has a solitary goal to his name. However, Cole is adamant he is trying to regain his match sharpness and
remain positive.
He said, “I'm privileged to play for Liverpool Football Club and privileged to be a professional footballer. The best thing you can do as a player is make sure that you don't take that for granted every day because it's a great lifestyle. There is nothing
you would want to change. It's been a bit stop-start for me this season but football's all about ups and downs and sometimes you just have to ride the rollercoaster.”
“I just try to have a positive outlook and keep going. I'm enjoying my football at the moment and taking every day as it comes, making sure I work hard every day from the moment I come in to the moment I leave,” added Cole.
Under new manager Kenny Dalglish, Liverpool are moving up the Premier League table and the competition for places has intensified with Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez joining the club in the January 2011 transfer window.
Joe Cole needs to improve his match fitness and make the most of the chances he gets to play for the Reds or he will be remembered as a gifted player who did not make the most of his abilities.
