The former head coach of Cagliari has gone on to remark on their most recent loss against Fiorentina at the San Siro stadium, and opted to defend the team.
The Rossoneri outfit have not been playing well at all during the current season, and they are currently in the doldrums of the Lega standings after 12 matches in the Serie A. The Diavolo giants have been under fire since the beginning of the season due
to all the summer departures from the club. All in all there were more than 13 players that had left the club following a summer which saw costs being cut at the San Siro.
The departures included the core of the team and the top performers of the Lega in the previous season as well. This had clearly angered the faithful of the Giuseppe Meazza outfit; which was reflected by the number of season ticket sales that took place
at the end of last season. It was the lowest number of sales under the ownership of Silvio Berlusconi.
The start to the season have plummeted the club below the mid standings which they were in the last week; however, after their defeat to Viola, they are standing on 14 points at the back of 12 matches in the season. This has meant that the club has not even
managed to accumulate 50 percent of the points on the table for the San Siro outfit.
Allegri was talking to the press and during his conversation with the press; he remarked that they gifted the chances to Fiorentina rather than them taking the initiative during the course of the match. He went on to comment:
“Fiorentina played well and kept possession, but we gifted them two goals from throw-ins. We did not react well and that is unacceptable. The Viola ran hard and pressed us around the field, but we were too deep and feel regret because they didn’t really
have many chances aside from the ones we gave them. It was a fairly balanced encounter. Fiorentina kept possession, but it is chances that count in football.”
Fiorentina are flying high in the Serie A, and are sitting in the fourth position of the Lega.
