I have tried ice cubes & orange peels in the disposal & my neighbor recommended baking soda.... any other suggestions to get rid of the old stinky smell? We just moved into this house about a month ago, but this is driving me nuts.

  1. If the smell is under the sink it isn't in the plumbing. I suggest putting charcoal under your sink. It would rid the musty smell. Charcoal is also good in musty basements.

  2. you said the smell is under your sink. It wouldn't be inside the drainage system that smells under the sink.

My bet would be that there is/has been a leak under there, and that has caused mold, dryrot or various other problems.

    look for dampness first.

I dont think its the disposal

  3. Two things. Pour in a mild bleach solution for 30 minutes. If it lessens smell  try it for longer. The previous occupants may have been keeping garbage in the sink cupboard. Give the whole interior a really good scrub with a bleach solution and check for any sink or other leaks  or mold. .
