my cat and i moved out of our tiny apartment into my parents big house. he is normally very friendly and affectionate but moving back, he is terrified. he hasnt come out from under the bed since i moved him in - except to use the litter box.

should i coax him out or let him be? i am moving with him overseas and feel horrible about all the changes. will he be ok?

  1. I wouldn't put added stress on the cat by forcing him/her out. Perhaps you could coax it out with treats or milk. It could assist on the comfort-levels, but on the cat's terms.

  2. when i moved into a house with my cat , she stayed under the couch for three months the only time she came out was to eat or use the box, and even then the other cat that lived with me was a ******* *****!!   lol her name....snippybitch  and it suites her very well she is horrible to my cat but, with time and patience it all will get better usually, they tend to make their surroundings their own just as dogs do, its like  a person from a small town moving to a big city like la lol but, definatley be sweet to him, he may think hes done somthing wrong, do to the change of his surroundings.

  3. Cats are creatures of habit and generally don't like change.  That said though, they are very good at adapting to new environments once they've got over the initial strop!  I would leave him be, as long as he is still eating, and is using his litter tray then I'm sure he will be OK.

You don't mention how long it has been since you moved either - it took my cats a good 2 or 3 weeks to settle into our new place but have been happier than ever with the extra room ever since!

  4. he should get used to it..he is probably just scared cause he doesnt know the place at all...leave him alone. dont force a cat to come out when it doesnt know the territory
