  1. 1) If the reaction produces a precipitate Ie AgNO3 + NaCl → AgCl + NaNO3

    2) Water is produced as a product ie NaOH + HCl → NaCL + H2O

    3.) A gas is produced ie Zn + 2HCl → ZnCl2+H2.

    These are all conditions that result in irreversible reactions.


  2. If the product degrades like it does in some batteries, then the reaction becomes irreversible because the product simply isnt there anymore to convert back to the starting reactants.

    Nuclear reactions are irreversible as matter is converted to energy and we have no way of changing energy into matter.
