Underage Chinese Gymnastics girls?

yea theres no doubt in my mind they are underage. i think 1 isnt tho, idk but anyway i want to know if u agree.

Ok so what if they are underage. Ok this is wrong but it feels like oh we arent good enough to compete against those girls and they beat us. just let it go. we have to inestigate and take away the metal(i dont kno what they r gonna do) just cuz we can get a higher place. It feels like that.

Yea so what if they are underage we should be good enough to beat them. And if they are that good at that age i think they deserve to be there and compete against us! if we are real atlethes it doesnt matter!

Younger gymnasts are at an advantage in that they typically are more flexable and are more likely not to fear complex maneuvers.  The International Federation of Gymnastics set the age at 16 because the younger gymnasts bodies are not yet fully developed and as a result, they are more likely to sustain injury.

The gymnasts in question were reported in Chinese language newspapers to have been younger than they are presenting themselves as at the Olympics.  My feeling is that the Olympics should just drop the age limit since here is no way for them to enforce it.

yeah, i think its time to move on. nastia won the all around and shawn came in second so underage or not, the US is still better. the US could have won the team finals if it wasn't for one gymnast. but that's the past, lets move on.

Are you kidding me? You can't allow someone to cheat. If they're underage, they can't compete. It isn't fair to the others who have followed the rules. They shouldn't be allowed to get away with bending the rules so they have a better shot at winning, no matter how good they are.

It's not a question of beating them - even if they came in last, if they're underage, THEY ARE UNDERAGE. It damages the integrity an athlete is supposed to uphold.

The Huffington Post has unearthed a lot of documents from years past that allege the athletes are underage - versus their passports that were issued six months ago that say they're 16. It's all way too fishy and needs to be investigated. It's in the interest of truth - which should mean something to you.

Ok all you american, get it thorugh your heads, the head of all the gymnastic stuff, NOT JUST CHINEESE PEOPLE. checked all of it out and they are not underage, they bet the US because they are better. I was hoping that because you guys won last night that you'd shut up and stop whining but apparetnyl not. Your not getting that gold medal so shut up

The age restriction should be dropped or followed to the letter...  perhaps the USA, Romania, or Russia, etc.. left their superior 13 yr old gymnasts @ home?  the playing field should be level PERIOD!!!!

China isn't exactly known for it's morals, anyway!  poisoning our dogs (dog food recalls) ; poisoning our kids (lead paint recalls) poisoning US ( they make many counterfeit/illegal drugs in China)

So who expected them to play by the rules?

That aside, what about the judges biased scoring?  They scored Chinese gymnasts higher who FELL than USA who did NOT fall.

Why are people still talking about this??? THEY DIDN'T CHEAT! They are ALL of age. They might look small, but they started training around 3 years old. That would obviously conflict with their development. The IOC checks their IDs and also the head of gymnastics person. There's no doubt that they are of age. And they are the best in the world!

It is wrong because they violated the rules. It is called cheating. They should investigate it. If it is proven that they are 16, then good for them. They are really good and they deserve a gold medal without clouds of suspicion. And if they cheated, they should be stripped of their medals. Yes, even if they are children so that they would learn that cheating is not ok. It is not their fault but the fault of the adults around them. Heads should roll over this. Who falsified the documents? Who ordered it? Who connived to make it all happen?

My opinion did not change just because America won the individuals.

i think the problem is how do you prove your age?  I dont think that you can do like carbon dating or some sort of testing.  For instance if you had to prove your age how would you do it?  Driver's license? Passport, Birth Certificate? all of these documents are government issue.  and if the government issues fake ones, how else could you prove your age?  Answer is there is no way.  So this issue is pretty much dead.  If the government wants to go to those lengths, there really isnt much you can do about it.

I agree with the fact that if these girls are underage it speaks volumes over how much better China performed, using under aged girls no less.  I do however believe that if they're innocent, it should be proven. This wa, people can stop all the talk. The fact that they're not investigating makes them look like cheaters.

no, i dont think the chinese girls are underage, go to china or japan you'll see 16yo girl are just like that. Im 21, most ppl think im only 16...thats just life.

i think the real problem here is the americans just cannot live with the fact the chinese beat them in gymnastic...so what, work harder, practice more, take gold next time

People who are defending them using underage girls need to realize one thing - if they used their best athletes regardless of age and we didn't get to use our best regardless of age - then they are cheating to get an advantage.

Second, these young girls are better gymnasts because of their age - they are more flexible and lighter.

Third, they ARE underage, there is so much evidence to prove this - China has cheated this way previously (one of their former gymnasts admitted they lied about her age), their irises are way to big for 16 year olds (this method of age determination is the same for everyone - even asians), and some of them still have baby teeth for crying out loud. Most of all - use some common sense and look at pictures of them - they cheated.

And finally, they CAN prove, without any doubt, that these girls are underage - they can x-ray them to look at the growth plates and which bones have fused in order to determine their age. But they won't do it because they are cowards who'll only badmouth the US (but not China or Russia). This is similar to the c**p the USSR did when they were juicing their athletes.

I think this is stupid, yeah they look very young, so. Asian woman tend to look very young, as other people in general. If they have been given prove of their age, people just need to get other them self's, people can look very young for their age. When I was their age people though I was 11, when I was 18 people thought I was 13, I am now 27 and people still ask me what grade I am in.
