We've already had it laid but the electrician never used matting. The cabling used was industrial and not domestic like the sort you get in B&Q..could this be the reason that matting was put down first off.

  1. Whoops at square 1

Underfloor heating is pricy to run, hence larger cabling, also it rots the feet through sweat, and just sends warm air up, making the room dry, unless you place a few buckets of water around.

    Get it ripped out.

  2. Some underfloor heating is just laid into the tile adhesive - without any need for matting. Others come in matting to save time on the spacing and layout etc.

It is the actual cable that emits the heat, so the matting is not contributing to the efficiency.

  3. Sry but Bob is full of it.. If it s a thicker cable I would pour a self leveling compound over the cable making sure ALL holes  and seeping places are blocked off .. Pour till it s just at the same level as the cable.. approx 25 s/f at a 1/4  per bag.  Then tile normaly over that in 24 hrs GL

  4. just ask the electrician to show u the specs on it.......
