Underground Railroad in Toronto?

Many Black slaves escaped via the underground railroad to Toronto and other parts of Canada. Are there tours, historical walks or a museum dedicated to this part of history there?

  1. Not so much in Toronto but both St. Catharines and Chatham in Ontario have much stronger connections with the underground railroad.


  2. there is actually no underground railroad that was just a nickname they didn't go underground. and i am not sure about any museums you could check google

  3. I am sure there are. I do know there is a tour in niagara falls (where many crossed the border into canada) and there is also a cemetary for those that had choose to settle in the area. The walk has a number of plaques along the way.

  4. Yes!  There is Sheffield Park in Collingwood, Ontario about  2 hours north of Toronto.  It has a lot on the Underground Railroad in Ontario.  Also, the Ontario Black History Society...the communities in Canada where Black fugitives fled to after escaping the United States.
