where in scotland can i find cute little quirky stores, vintage clothing, or just things in general that would appeal to the new hipster/urban graffiti/underground art and music scene generation.

I'm looking for neighborhoods that are comparable to San Francisco's Haight/Ashbury, Chicago's Wicker Park, San Diego's Hillcrest, Brixton, London's Camden, etc.

At the end of the day, it's just your luck and what they have in stock at the time. I have got a few good bargains in these places myself so good luck!

  3. the music scene is amazing. bigger venues- try carling academy, secc, the garage, the abc, the odd gig on glasgow green.

if you want more underground unsigned bands, try rockers, the cathouse, the arches, king tut's (who sometimes have really big bands doing more 'personal' shows too)

vintage clothes, there's some shops in the west end. however i went into Watermelon which is meant to be one of the best and i recognized quite a bit out of primark :| with all the labels ripped off, so i'd be careful you're not getting ripped off (btw, i might be wrong about watermelon, just be careful :p)

camden, never been there but that's like a market sort of... maybe? the barras market is open on weekends. it used to be amazing but now its sort of a breeding ground for knock off dvds and random crimes. if you look in the right places though, you can find some great things, usually down different streets from the main ones.

im only speaking for glasgow but i think edinburgh's grass market (?) has a lot of music related stuff too, but ive never been
