  1. Wait until the air is cold, early morning or evening.

Then use a shovel & dig.  Have a full spray can of wasp/yellow jacket killer ready.   Dig & spray. Dig & spray.  Usually works best with 2 people.

  2. yellow jackets are one of the few wasps that readily fly in cold weather...shop around for an exterminator, they would have the proper products to use, unlike just throwing gas or kerosene out in the environment

  3. in the evening, when they're all back at the nest, carefully sneak up and pour Sevin dust around the entrance hole... all around it... so that the wasps HAVE to walk thru it to get in or out..... then wait... in about a day, there should be much less activity around the hole... a few days later,  wreck the entrance hole with the shovel, too.....shovel soil over the hole then.... that should do it.....

I put the Sevin dust in an old plastic bowl that I could throw away.... makes it easier to just pour and go!!!.........

  4. dump kerosene down the hole and light it
