i have been working at this job for 5 months and there has been a change in hands along with management. the coworkers and i do not like the change and would like to leave the company. we are underpaid. we work independently in a 70 room hotel for 8 hours a day. there is nobody there besides us. the front desk is management. during summer it is the busiest season. for one person to handle all the customers it is very tough on us. we want a raise but when we asked for it the owner said he would have to evaluate our performance. doesn't it show that we work hard already when there is one 18 year old who pretty much manages everything. we are ready to walk out of the job, but how do we get our point across that we need a good reason to stay at this job?

  1. practically speaking job market is not that much favorable right now, but situations will change.

don't leave the job as it is.

prepare your own activity list and record whatever you done everyday so when somebody ask, you can show to them.

be in job, brush up your skills so that you will be desired candidate for the next job opportunity

  2. Paypeeper.com is a salary search website launched in 2008 that allows visitors to view and post anonymously actual job salaries of companies.  This is unique because the compensation records posted are the real wages being earned by the employee and not just averages.  The Company Name, Title and Salary are required and optional are State, Bonus and Additional Information (such as personal opinions).  There are also articles and video that provides positive advice on improving your career or looking for new job prospects.  An example of this is video on "How to Ask for a Raise" and "Interview and Resume Tips". This site has daily updates on Current News Stories and articles on Career and Personal Finance as well as video on companies, job search tips and employee pay.

  3. your employer doesnt really care about you or giving you a raise.  with today's economy, someone else can do it for cheaper.  its all about paying emplyees less and have emplyees do more than they are being paid for.  its the sad reality of the job world
