  1. James V was the last king who ruled over only Scotland.

Mary was the last monarch (in her case, Queen) who ruled over only Scotland, although she was the Queen Consort of France for a short time.

James VI (son of Mary and grandson of James V) was originally King of Scotland but also became James I of England when his cousin (first cousin twice removed) Queen Elizabeth I passed on.

Anne was the last Queen of Scotland.  She signed the Act of Union which united England and Scotland creating the Kingdom of Great Britain.

  2. In an incredible twist of fate, a Scottish doctor on a Ugandan medical mission becomes irreversibly entangled with one of the world's most barbaric figures: Idi Amin. Impressed by Dr. Garrigan's brazen attitude in a moment of crisis, the newly self-appointed Ugandan President Amin hand picks him as his personal physician and closest confidante. Though Garrigan is at first flattered and fascinated by his new position, he soon awakens to Amin's savagery -- and his own complicity in it. Horror and betrayal ensue as Garrigan tries to right his wrongs and escape Uganda alive.

He detests the local British officials for their imperialistic bigotry and continues to help Amin on state projects and family matters while working in the main Kampala state-funded hospital. Slowly, however, Garrigan cannot reconcile this positivity with the increasingly brutal and repressive images of violence and oppression enveloping the country around him; at the same time, the audience comes to realize that he is no longer an "innocent bystander," since his participation in Amin's household is itself support of Amin's repressive policies.

  3. which bit ????I need a little more to go on here

  4. What's not to understand. Idi Amin was a horrible human being whose exceptional military reputation led him into power. His rule was characterized by human rights abuses, political repression, ethnic persecution, extra-judicial killings and the expulsion of Indians from Uganda. The number of people killed as a result of his regime is unknown; estimates from human rights groups range from 100,000 to 500,000.

From 1977 to 1979, Amin titled himself as "His Excellency, President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Idi Amin Dada, VC,DSO, MC, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Seas and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular."

    Update:

EXCUSE ME SUE!!! 'The Last King of Scotland' is an Oscar winning movie that depicts the slaughter of the Ugandan people by a ruthless dictator. Idi Amin, believed to be a little crazy, was known to call himself the King of Scotland as well hence the title of the movie. Forest Whittaker took home the best actor Oscar last year for the title role in the movie. Since the question was asked the way that it was, I assumed 'The Last King of Scotland' referred to the movie by the same name.

Where have you been, under a rock?!

  5. I'm assuming the question is about the Academy Award winning film "The Last King of Scotland" and not about any of the James'. After all... technically the last "king" of scotland would have been Queen Elizabeth II's father. She is currently the Queen of Scotland as part of the United Kingdom.

The movie The Last King of Scotland is about Idi Amin. I think some people need to step back and think outside the box. And stop railing against other people who have answered correctly.

  6. When you mean the "last" King of Scotland are you referring to James VI of Scotland?  He was the last independent Scots monarch before taking over the English throne later on & becoming James I of England (as well as retaining the title James VI of Scotland).  Does this help you understand any better?

  7. What on earth has jjmlucky13's answer to do with Scotland!???

The last king of Scotland was, depending on whether you are looking at an Independent Scotland (James VI) or unified Great Britain , including Scotland, then George VI, or, if you want the current monarch, Queen Elizabeth II.  Or are you asking about Charles III?  who was the last Stuart to try to take the throne of GB?
