Question:

Underwater swim in cold water?

I have a swim test and have to swim 130 feet underwater in one breath (horizontally). I've been practicing in 80 degree pools.. but the swim test one will be 60. How will this affect my breath hold/oxygen use?

Thanks!

  1. you should be fine. just remember to stay calm. if you panic you will start hyperventilating which will increase your body's need for oxygen and you will need to surface unless you would rather pass out. lol.

  2. About 43 yards? Ooh, good luck! I don't know about temperatures, but try not using as much kick as legs use up more oxygen.

  3. it will take more out of you, i would start practicing in colder water.
