I applyed to Chubb insurance as a Underwriting Trainee and wondering what is a fair salary? They asked me how much i was looking for and i said whatever you guys think is fair since they are a company of integrity. Also how is the underwriter career like? is it good for someone like me who just recently graduated with a degree in business and finance?

  1. I am an Independent Agent, don't work for an actual insurance company, but I of course work with a lot of underwriters.  I became friends with one working as an underwriter and she had been there for 9 years, worked her way up from the mail room to an underwriter.  Her salary was $20 + an hour for an underwriter.... but you are asking for an underwriter trainee.  I guarantee you it will be under the $20 an hour, because you are going to have to learn the business and train, but stick with it and you will do fine.  If you don't get accepted with Chubb, there are many more insurance companies out there that are looking for good people to hire.  It's an interesting business to get involved in.  Never a dull moment. :-)  Good luck!
