Undetectable poisons???

I'm writing a story for English but my English teacher is crazy about details, so is there a poison that can be put in food and be undetectable? Please make sure they're real and try to include links or something I can cite because I might need to make a bibliography.

  1. food is a terrible source of poisoning (with quick effect)

it tends to cause vomiting and a messy result.

a far better means include intravenous potassium chloride which is effective in less than a minute and leaves vertually no trace.

problem is explaining the needle mark(s) and of course getting the cooperation of the victim.

  2. im sorry to say it but this question is very suspicious...

what kind of story are you writing for an english class on poison??

  3. I'm not absolutely sure about this, but I think I remember the herb belladonna is not traceable.

  4. Okay, so I have no link but maybe this will help (it is from memory, so do a google search)?  Nitroglycerin compounds are used in heart medications to help stimulate heart muscle contractions.  I believe they have a short half life.  So, an overdose of this medication (in food), would in theory, cause a heart attack and yet be undetectable as a "poison".  Hope this helps.

  5. What do you mean by undetectable?

No poison doesn't leave some sort of trace in whatever administers it.  If the poison was put into something, it's still in that something.  You can however destroy the evidence.

There are many that have no taste, or scent.  Or at least one that we wouldn't recognize as poison, and may take hours to exhibit any symptoms if that is what you are after.
