Undrafted Boise State University QB Kellen Moore signed by Detroit Lions - NFL News
No prospective player coming out of college wants to be left without a team when the drafts end but at the end of each draft some players go through the disappointment of not being selected with the rest during the drafts.
This happened to Boise State University quarterback, Kellen Moore who was not picked by any team during the three days of the drafts.
However, according to NFL.com the young quarterback is set to be picked up by the Detroit Lions as they look to add depth to the roster.
The Lions have just two quarterbacks listed on their roster with starter, Matthew Stafford and veteran backup, Shaun Hill.
Stafford’s position after his brilliant performances last season is more than secure and Moore will come in to challenge Hill for the backup role if he joins the Lions.
Moore confirmed to the Idaho Statesman on Saturday that he is joining the Lions and said that he is glad he is joining a team where he wanted to go in the first place.
The young quarterback’s university coach, Chris Peterson told the newspaper that the quarterback will be a great addition to the team if given the opportunity and he has the potential to develop into a good National Football League (NFL) player.
"I do think there are a lot of teams who were extremely intrigued by him and who would have loved to get him on their roster. The Lions are the ones who are extremely fortunate. They're going to get a good player. ... If a team gives him a legitimate chance
to learn the system and get reps, I really believe he will be in the NFL for a while."
The youngster had a great college career and became the university’s top player with the most wins in his career.
However, the quarterback was rejected by draft analysts due to his lack of size and poor arm strength.
Moore though would like nothing better to disprove his critics and analysts in the NFL and working on his game with a pass heavy team such as the Detroit Lions will be provide him a great platform to develop into a well-rounded quarterback in the future.
