  1. When there were lots of kings, everyone was out to kill them to take over.  Therefore, they had "tasters" to first taste any food or drink in order to see if it was poisoned.  They didn't sleep well, fearing someone would stab them in their sleep.  They had to have guards all around all the time and they didn't even trust them.  Caesar and Brutus HAD been friends, but Brutus helped stab him.  Julius' last words were supposed to be, "Et tu, Brutus?"  Which translates, "You to, Brutus?"  Therefore "uneasy lies the head........".

  2. It means that people in high positions often are uneasy because of the level of stress that they deal with. the crown worn by the king would be stressed out and uneasy about the health of his people perhaps....

  3. It means with responsibility (being the King) there are certain worries associated with the prestige.

  4. A person who has great responsibilities, such as a king, is constantly worried and therefore doesn’t sleep soundly. This saying is a line from the play King Henry the Fourth, Part Two, by William Shakespeare.
