Unemployed college graduate

I graduated from college in May. Thanks to Bush the economy is stagnant and I can't find a job. To make matters worse, I owe over $14,000 in student loans. I have to start paying on December 28. Are there any lucrative careers that are attainable? I have an associate's in engineering and a BA in economics. How do I go about getting a decent job (ie not Walmart or McDonalds)? Please do not give me an answer like "Check craigslist"

  1. The best way to get a job is through who you know.  Ask if any of your friend's companies are hiring.  Maybe ask family, if you find a contact you will have much better chance at obtaining a new job.

are you willing to move?  Some areas of the country the economy is very poor but in others it is booming.  Maybe you need to consider relocating.

  2. How flexible are you? When I came out of college, I applied to as many company websites to make sure my resume is in there. Attended job fairs and handed out as many resume as I can. I also made sure I was flexible with relocation to open all options. Dont get a job at Walmart and McD... that demeaning for the degrees you have achieved. With associates, I am pretty sure you can apply for tech jobs in alot of companies and your BA econs in business sectors...

If you are determined to get a job, you will.

  3. First of all your a moron. One man can't control the economy. He can only promote economic policies. As the person above said networking is a great way to find a job. If all else fails you can request to defer your payment on student loans.
