Unemployment Rate QUESTION

Unemployment rate seems to be calculated differently for the USA and Canada. For example, in the USA, you need to be employed for at least 6 months to receive unemployment.

In Canada, you need to be employed only 3 months to receive unemployment.

How is it that Canada's unemployment rate is higher than the USA? Fuzzy math here? Anyone know the full details?????

  1. The time you are talking about is the time you must be employed to RECEIVE UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION, which doesn't have a lot to do with unemployment RATES.
