Unemployment benefits (CA) . I'm going to be laid off & I had to fix some stuff...?

overseas (medical reason) approximately 1.5 month . Does EDD will still send me a check as I have apartment & bills to pay? My mom can send the paperwork & I can sign it or can they accept my authorization so my mom can sign it?

Uh, when you are getting unemployment benefits you are supposed to be actively looking for work.  In this country.

Likely not.  In order to qualify, you need to be ABLE to work, and actively looking for work.  But if you qualify for CA Unemployement (ie, it's a CA company and you're a CA resident), you also likely qualify for CA disability - which is where you should be filing.
