Unemployment eligible?

My job states in the handbook that 3 days missed (missed meaning over 59 minutes late) is grounds for termination. I was 2 minutes late due to being placed on light duty due to pregnancy and moving departments. I had available vacation time but they said it wasn't approved a week in advance and that I'm being terminated.

Can I claim unemployment or is this considered a fault of my own?

  1. You can apply.  If your employer contests it, it will probably be denied since you were dismissed for something you did.
