I had worked for Walmart for 5 years, always a hard and good worker who enjoyed my job. anyways, a couple months ago my department got a new supervisor, who i thought was great, at first. I had a store approved availability that i could not work past 5 pm due to daycare situation. my availability, due to store policy and i think law, was not to be changed without my permission. this new supervisor started scheduling me past my availability, like until 11 pm. i spoke with him and he claimed he forgot. turns out the way the system works you cant schedule someone different hours unless you manually override it. so i doubt he just forgot. anywho i got upper management involved because i didnt want to get in trouble for not working those hours. i was reassured it would be fine, just to work my normal 8-5. this supervisor ended up just getting "talked to" about it, and he flipped out and was very angry towards me. 4 days later i got fired due to "excessive absenteeism". i have absolutely no doubt in my mind these "absences" must of come when the schedule was messed up. so im trying to get unemployment and was denied, so now im appealing. i dont remember the specific dates, just that it was june and july. i want to present an accurate argument though. do you think walmart will let me look at my past attendance record, since i was never shown in the first place? and do you think i have any chance of winning this? i have no doubt in my mind that if this supervisor never got in trouble i would still have my job. thank you for any advice. and just so you know, i have looked for other jobs. apparently the economy is tough out there. im not in favor of using the governments money, just need something while i find another job.
