Question:

Unemployment-problems reaching the office?

I am a teacher through an organization that allows me to collect unemployment for the 2 months I'm off during the summer. There are live people available to help at the unemployment phone number M-F 7:45- 4:30. However, no matter what time I call, if its on a Monday the recording says to call back Tuesday-Thursday. I even tried calling early this morning. I tried calling 2 minutes ahead but got hung up on because it was too early. So I called back right on time and was told by the recording that they were too busy to take my call, please call back later and it hung up on me. How could it be that the minute they open, they are already too busy to take my call? Who could have possibly beat me to it? And then the other thing is I've even called on a Tuesday before and had the same problem! I don't get it. What is their problem?

  1. Wow.  That is unacceptable.

If I was you I would send the most threatening, hate-filled email to 3 of the highest ranking member you can find describing that story.  And, in-person if you live close to the offices.

Give the email to one guy as a To: and two others as a Cc: so the first guy knows other people are watching and would possibly get him in trouble if he slacks off for such a high priority claim.

Be sure to give them some personal incentive to handle your claim.  I'd finish that email up with something about getting them in some sort of trouble for blatant discrimination (because it really does sound like discrimination).

I'd play the race card if it's in your hand =)

    Seriously, good luck tho.
