Walter Mazzarri, head coach of the Partenopei outfit, has gone on to comment on the future of his players before the verdict against his players gets delivered.
The Neapolitan outfit have been part of a new match fixing controversy that has engulfed the side following the investigations carried out by the Italian sporting authorities. The probe has been taking place for quite a while, with the sporting authorities
determined to put an end to the unsporting behaviour prevalent in the Serie A and they have been dishing out relatively strict sentences to the players involved in the frauds. Even those are convicted who have not been attentive enough to alert the sporting
authorities regarding fixers who approached players.
One footballing personality to have been engulfed in this most recently has been the head coach of Juventus FC, Antonio Conte, who was initially given a ban of ten months for his inability to inform the sporting authorities regarding the fixing of matches
in the Serie B, the Siena-Novara and Albinoleffe-Siena tie. However, the ban was reduced to four months upon the appeal of the former Siena head coach and it has to be stated that the head coach of the outfit has been under intense scrutiny during his absence.
Napoli finds themselves in similar positions with their captain, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gianluca-Grava-c14824 alleged to have been involved in the betting controversy, even if the allegations are that they refused to play any role in the event. Mazzarri remarked
that he is optimistic about the results of tomorrow and remarked that it was not entirely fair to be handing such lengthy bans, even if the players failed to alert the appropriate authorities.
While commenting on his feelings, he remarked:
“We are hopeful for tomorrow. The fact is the entire case is just one person’s word against that of two others. Is that enough to ban players? Besides which, I don’t think these lengthy bans for not alerting authorities is entirely fair.”
The person alleging the above two is the former goal keeper of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Matteo-Gianello-c24796, who apparently approached Cannavaro and Grava to fix the match; an allegation which the two refuse.
