Unformatted sd card in xacti camcorder

Question

i foolisly used my xacti camcorder before reading the full instruction book and did not format my 4 gig card. no card reader will read the card now.i took a lot of holiday footage and stills and do not want to lose these by formatting the card. any way i can recover the images?it is a sanyo Xacti ACV/H.264
