What's the rule about underhand pitching in the MLB? I see guys pitching underhand occassionally. I thought MLB pitchers weren't allowed to pitch underhand. Can somebody please tell me the rule about pitching underhanded in the MLB?

  1. They are submarine pitchers or pitchers who pitch from a sidearm or three-quarters delivery.

  2. I don't believe that baseball expressly forbids a true underhand delivery.  I always thought that it would be an intriguing weapon since the ball would approach the plate from a completely different angle. It would be near impossible to generate enough force to make it a viable pitch, however.

  3. they are submarine pitchers.
